Francis Ngannou isn’t wasting time and plans to get back into action soon after his last loss.

The Cameroonian fighter suffered a second-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua, in what was only his second boxing match ever.

With the loss still making news in the combat sports world, Ngannou has instead focused in on his next fight.

As reported by SportBible, Ngannou will return to action later this year when he competes in his first fight under the Professional Fighters League (PFL) banner when he takes on Rennan Ferreira.

The fight is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia, and will headline the event, PFL founder Donn Davis confirmed.

"So that fight is going to be big. Just because of Francis, but that event will also have other compelling matchups on it. That fight card will take place in Riyadh, in Saudi Arabia,” he said.

When did Ngannou join PFL?

After leaving the UFC while still heavyweight champion, Ngannou was one of the hottest free agents in combat sports.

In May 2023, PFL announced that they had signed a multi-fight deal with the African star, ESPN reported.

As part of his deal, he was also given a post to serve on PFL's Global Athlete Advisory Board and was named Chairman and equity owner in PFL Africa.

Who is Ngannou’s next opponent?

A Brazilian heavyweight, Ferreira has amassed 13 wins in his professional MMA career, with only three losses.

He is also undefeated in his last four fights, Sherdog noted. All four of those wins came via KO/ TKO.

Ngannou explains why he lost to Joshua

Sports Brief reported how Ngannou claimed he was deceived before his second-round knockout loss against Joshua.

The British boxer beat the Cameroonian heavyweight fighter in spectacular fashion when he knocked him out.

The Predator has now said that waiting in the dressing room for hours made him feel ‘deceived’ before the fight.
