The boxing legend claimed it was hard to name favourites because there were too many guys, but overlooked popular fighters like Israel Adesanya, Kamaru Usman and even Conor McGregor.

Sports Brief looks at the Baddest Man on the Planet’s favourite fighters.

Tyson's favourite UFC fighters

1. Royce Gracie

Gracie was the first name mentioned by Tyson on the Full Send Podcast.

Arguably the most influential fighter in the sport, the Brazilian was famous for his fearlessness, which helped him take down opponents bigger than him.

He won the inaugural UFC event in 1993 and the second and fourth shows. In mixed martial arts, he fought 20 times, won 15, drew three and lost two. 11 of his 15 wins came via submission.

2. Jon Jones

Tyson named Jones as one of his three favourites while discussing the impacts of combat sports in society to Metro UK.

Bones is considered the greatest Light-Heavyweight champion of all time and is the current UFC heavyweight champion.

In his professional MMA career, he has fought 29 times, winning 27 of those fights. One of his bouts ended in a no-contest, while his only loss came as the result of a disqualification.

Jones' career has been marred by some controversy, but he remains one of the biggest draws in the sport.

3. Colby Covington

A king on the microphone and the UFC’s trash talker, Covington resembles Iron Mike in many ways.

Tyson was a renowned trash talker in his day, something Covington prides himself on now. Per SportBible, one of his famous controversies was mocking Leon Edwards’ late father ahead of UFC 296.

A vocal Republican and supporter of former president Donald Trump, he is often seen wearing his “Make America Great Again” hat. He has a 17-4 record in MMA.

4. Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib was the longest reigning UFC lightweight champion and retired undefeated in 29 fights.

The former champion retired following the death of his father and trainer, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, and per Marca, he turned down $40 million to return because he promised his mother that he would quit the sport.

Nurmagomedov dispatched every challenger in his way, but his most memorable rivalry was with McGregor.

Tyson names his favourite career knockout

Sports Brief reported on Tyson picking his favourite career knockout, and surprisingly, they were not the two that earned him his two heavyweight reigns.

The 57-year-old named Larry Holmes the favourite boxer he knocked out because it avenged what he did to his idol Muhammad Ali when he was 14.
