- Former Springbok coach and current Director of Rugby at the South Africa Rugby Union is winning fans over amidst controversy
- The world cup winner is becoming something of a social media star with his entertaining and sometimes moving videos on Twitter
- England prop Joe Marler, not one to hold back, praised Erasmus for being apologetic, and hoped he'd reach high office one day
Former Springbok coach and current Director of Rugby at the South African Rugby Union Rassie Erasmus continues to divide rugby observers at home and worldwide.
While drawing scorn and snarls from some quarters, he appears to be winning over others elsewhere for his unapologetic and expressive nature.
Erasmus is currently entertaining Mzansi and the world on his Twitter page with odd and hilarious videos while serving a suspension handed to him by World Rugby.
Amidst the sideshows served up by Erasmus, England prop Joe Marler gave him a crude thumbs up in a recent interview in the Daily Mail, saying that he'd elevate him up to high office if he had the power.
Marler said:
"The first thing I’d do is install Rassie Erasmus as my right-hand man and the second thing I’d do is install Agustin Pichot as my left-hand man. Rassie’s gold. He’s marmite but he’s got people talking about rugby. I love him. I f***ing love him. Rassie seems very true to himself. He is who he is. He does what he wants. I love anyone who is authentic and stays true to who they are. You don’t have to agree with them.”
Social media was a mood in response to Marler's praise of Erasmus.
Lisa Gair said:
"This is gold. Good on him. Not sure he will score points with it, but Rassie didn't either - so that makes them both honest and authentic."
Derek Greene said:
"Colonialism is part of History and must be condemned even in Europe. Rassie is a Rugby Revolutionary."

"Even better: why don't we get Rassie in there now as Chairman? Not the right hand man to anyone. Let him shake up World Rugby and get it right!"
