Forgotten Springbok Andre Esterhuizen is bearing down on the Springbok number 12 jersey if the hype is to be believed.

Esterhuizen last played for the Springboks just before the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and has had to watch from out in the cold as the green-and-gold conquer all comers. SA Rugby Magazine reported that this latest performance will be a timely reminder to Bok selectors of his value with the 2023 world cup firmly in sight.

Esterhuizen said to BT Sport after the game:

"I'm loving life at the moment because I never get these a lot. I'm very grateful. A lot of credit to the team because they do all the hard work as I sometimes just run into the gaps because of it."

Back home, rugby enthusiasts said Esterhuizen had put Bok incumbent Damian de Allende on notice with these barnstorming performances.

Johan Barnard said:

"His third man of the match! He is in very good form! Boks would be crazy not to bring him back in."

Jared McNeil said:

"Should’ve given De Allende a rest during the November tests and given this man a run."

Michael van der Watt said:

"The selectors seriously need to catch a wake up and reward Andre for his fine efforts..."

Thabang Nong said:

"Please recall him back to the Boks. He can cover for Damian and remember, this guy has played with Lukhanyo at the Sharks."

@jameycr said:

"Like I said before: Very good provincial player. Bok? I think not!"
