Real estate mogul, Christopher Bratty and the Deadpool star headline the group lodging the bid.

The Hollywood star has experience running a sports franchise, as he also owns Wrexham FC. He purchased the Welsh football club in 2020 with fellow actor, Rob McElhenney.

The duo have helped transform the club’s fortunes, with the team securing promotion to the Football League for the first time in 15 years, per CBS Sports.

The 46-year-old Canadian actor has referenced Wrexham when discussing his plans for the Sens, telling BNN Bloomberg that they have to be able to grow the community if they are going to grow the club.

Reynolds is also the people’s choice to be the next owner of the Senators, as he grew up in Ottawa.

Senators' owner - Snoop Dogg?

Reynolds isn’t the only major celebrity looking to acquire the Ottawa Senators.

Hip-hop mogul, Snoop Dogg announced in an Instagram post that he was joining LA-based businessman and producer, Neko Sparks’ ownership bid for the franchise.

The Long Beach rapper wrote that he is excited by the vision of Sparks, who is looking to become the NHL’s first black owner.

Snoop Dogg is a known hockey supporter, as he is a fan of the Los Angeles Kings.

He has even joined the Kings’ broadcast crew on numerous occasions, hilariously taking over the play-by-play and calling the action in games.

The Weeknd for Senators' ownership?

Another music titan has thrown his hat into the ring to own the Ottawa Senators. The Weeknd joined a group led by Toronto billionaires, Michael and Jeffrey Kimel in their pursuit to buy the NHL franchise, per The Globe and Mail.

Abel Tesfaye, who is better known by his stage name, grew up in Toronto and is a known hockey fan.

Postmedia’s Bruce Garrioch reported that The Weeknd has joined the Kimels’ bid because he has ties to the city of Ottawa through his managers.

The Canadian recording artist wants to turn his passion for the sport of hockey into something great for the community.
