NBA In Season Tournament Quarterfinals: Lakers vs Suns, Bucks vs Knicks Headline Last 8 Matchups

And then there were eight.

The NBA In-Season Tournament concluded Tuesday night, with six group winners and two wild-card teams booking their place in the quarterfinals.

Sports Brief looks at the teams that qualified for the knockout round and the four matchups that will take place in the quarters.

Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the NBA In-Season Tournament after finishing top of West Group A.

They breezed through the competition, winning their four group games by an average of 18.5 points.

The Lakers went unbeaten thanks to LeBron James' stellar play. He averaged 25 points in their wins against the Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, and Utah Jazz.

Next up for the Lakers is a showdown with the Suns, who finished the group stage with a 3-1 record.

Phoenix qualified for the last 8 after clinching one of the two wild-card spots in the tournament.

The Suns and the Lakers faced each other in West Group A, with Los Angeles recording a come-from-behind 122-119 victory.

Kevin Durant and James went toe to toe in that showdown, scoring 38 and 32 points, respectively, per CBS News.

The Lakers will host their quarter-final matchup on December 5.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings secured their place in the quarter-finals of the NBA In-Season Tournament after finishing top of West Group C.

They won all of their games in the group stage, including a thrilling 124-123 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.

The Kings were in danger of losing their spot in the quarters after they trailed the Warriors by 24 points at one stage in their clash.

Sacramento battled back, however, outscoring Golden State 69-51 in the second half to preserve their unbeaten slate.

Next up for the Kings is a showdown with the New Orleans Pelicans, who finished at the top of West Group B with a 3-1 record.

The Pelicans started the In-Season Tournament with a 104-101 loss to the Houston Rockets.

They finished with three straight wins against the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, and the Los Angeles Clippers, however, to advance to the knockout round.

The Kings will host their quarter-final matchup on December 4.

New York Knicks vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks booked their place in the quarter-finals of the NBA In-Season Tournament after finishing top of East Group B.

They stamped their class in the elimination round, winning their four group games by an average of 11.5 points.

Next up for the Bucks is a showdown with the New York Knicks, who finished the group stage with a 3-1 record.

New York qualified for the last 8 after clinching one of the two wild-card spots in the tournament.

The Knicks and the Bucks squared off in East Group B, with Milwaukee recording a 110-105 victory.

Damian Lillard and Antetokounmpo combined for 52 points in that win. Jalen Brunson starred for the Knicks in that loss, scoring 45 points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out four assists.

The Bucks will host their quarter-final matchup on December 5.

Boston Celtics vs. Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the NBA In-Season Tournament after finishing top of East Group C.

They went unbeaten in the group stage, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks and the Detroit Pistons.

The Pacers will face the Boston Celtics next. The Celtics booked a spot in the quarters after recording a 124-97 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.

They finished in a three-way tie for first place in the group, but Boston managed to advance thanks to their superior point difference (+27).

The Pacers will host their quarter-final matchup on December 4.

LeBron's worst loss in the NBA

Sports Brief recently reported on LeBron James suffering the worst loss of his NBA career against Philadelphia.

The Lakers lost by 44 points to the Sixers on Monday night.

James had 18 points in the 138-94 defeat.
