James and Brooks's history is not long, but it is full of drama. It started during the 2023 NBA playoffs when Brooks was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.

After the Grizzlies beat the Lakers in Game 2 of the first round, Brooks made controversial comments about James, which saw him get widespread condemnation. Boorks was ejected in game 3 for hitting James in the groin area.

“I poke bears — I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40 (points),” via the Athletic.
“I don’t care — he’s old,” Brooks said. “I was expecting him to (talk trash), Game 4, Game 5.”

James didn't drop 40 points on Brooks, but he and the Lakers eliminated the Grizzlies in six games. James averaged 22.4 points and 11.2 rebounds in that series.

James on his NBA scoring record

Sports Brief earlier reported on James naming a few players who could surpass his scoring record.

The Lakers star said that Kevin Durant is the most likely player to outdo him because of his versatility on the court. Durant is currently 15th on the all-time scoring list and may climb up before he retires.

He also added that the likes of Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Irving have a chance if they stay healthy.
