The eldest son of NBA superstar, LeBron James, has been discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles following his health scare.

The news comes after the 18-year-old collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday while working out at the University of Southern California.

Hospital releases statement about Bronny

Merije Chukumerije, who is the consulting cardiologist for James, released a statement through Cedars-Sinai on Thursday, saying:

"Thanks to the swift and effective response by the USC athletics' medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for a sudden cardiac arrest. He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable. Mr. James was cared for promptly by highly-trained staff and has been discharged home, where he is resting.”

Chukumerije added in her statement that although James’ workup will be ongoing, they are “hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support."

A spokesperson for the James family confirmed the hospital's statement regarding Bronny’s health condition, per ESPN.

LeBron thanks people for support

Hours before the statement from Cedars-Sinai was released, LeBron thanked the people who supported them during these tough times.

The Los Angeles Lakers star posted his heartfelt gratitude on X, formerly known as Twitter, writing:

"I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers. We feel you and I'm so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we're ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us! #JamesGang"

Bronny arrived last month at USC to prepare for his freshman year. The Trojans are set to leave next week for an exhibition tour in Greece and Croatia.

James is expected not to join his teammates on that trip, with recovery right now being his main focus.

LeBron on playing with Bronny

James recently revealed his ambition to play with his son Bronny when he joins the NBA.

However, his basketball future is up in the air following the latest health incident.

Sports Brief earlier reported that the USC star is not eligible to play in the NBA until the 2024-25 season because of the rules of the current collective bargaining agreement.
