Victor Wembanyama is not a 7-5 giant.

The San Antonio Spurs revealed on Wednesday the official height of their newest superstar, with the Frenchman measured at seven feet, 3 ½ inches tall without shoes, per NBA guidelines.

That is a half-inch taller than the teen phenom said he was back in October when he played two exhibition games in Las Vegas.

Wembanyama’s official height was listed at 2.21 meters back then, per ESPN.

He has grown a little bit, with his height now officially listed at nearly 2.23 meters, which isn’t a complete surprise given that he is only 19 years old.

The NBA listed the Spurs big man’s height at 7-4 in the league's guide for the draft last week, but that was not an official measurement.

Who is the tallest player?

Make no mistake about it, though, Wembanyama is still a tall dude.

He is on pace to be the league’s second-tallest player this coming 2023-24 season.

Boban Marjanovic is officially the NBA’s tallest player, with his height listed at 7-4 this past season, per Sporting News.

The former Mets 92 star is taller than Kristaps Porzingis, who was listed at 7-3 last season. The Latvian big man played for the Washington Wizards in the 2022-23 campaign and has since been traded to the Boston Celtics.

NBA's policy on height measurement

Almost every player that participated in the draft had his height measured by the league in the past weeks. Most of them had their heights measured last May during the draft combine in Chicago.

Wembanyama wasn’t able to take part in the combine, though, as his season was still ongoing in the French league.

The Spurs finally got his height measured this past weekend when he arrived in San Antonio for the first time since getting drafted.

The NBA changed its policy regarding height measurement before the start of the 2019-20 season. The league required players to be measured without their shoes to determine their official height.

Wembanyama skips FIBA World Cup

Sports Brief previously reported on Wembanyama skipping the World Cup as he prepares for his rookie season with the Spurs.

The No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft was expected to bolster a French national side that won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

He clarified he had not turned his back on France and that he would still be suiting up for his country in next year’s Olympics.
