Victor Wembanyama is one of the most exciting prospects in NBA history. He is not bothered by that hype.

The 7-foot-4 big man has attracted the attention of most NBA fans, which has made him a superstar already. This week, he landed in New York, signed autographs for fans, and strolled around the city. He seemed relaxed as cameras followed him everywhere he went.

San Antonio Spurs won the 2023 draft and are expected to select the Frenchman with the No. 1 pick. The hype around him is justified. His combination of size and skills have not been seen before in the league. The hype does not worry him.

"I don't let this, all this stuff, get into my head because I got such high expectations for myself that I'm immune to all this stuff. So I really don't care," via ESPN.

He was delighted the Sours got the No. 1 pick.

"For me, San Antonio is synonymous with winning," Wembanyama said. "When, on lottery night, when the Spurs got the No. 1 pick, I was just thinking, I was feeling lucky that they had pick as a franchise that has that culture and that experience in winning and making, creating good players. So I really can't wait."

The Spurs is a popular team in France because his former compatriots Tony Parker and Boris Diaw played for the team. Spurs have also had No. 1 picks twice before, Tim Duncan and David Robinson. The two went on to become Hall of Famers, per Sporting News.

Fans swarm Wemby at the airport

Sports Brief recently reported on Wembanyama's arrival in the United States before the draft

His plane touched down at Newark International Airport on Monday, June 19. He was mobbed by fans, who waited for him at the airport just outside the city.

His charisma was evident as he signed autographs on various items fans brought, from basketballs to Spurs jerseys, with his name already on the back.

Tallest players in NBA history

Sports Brief earlier reported on the tallest players in NBA history.

Wembanyama is not the tallest, but he is in the top 10. Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muresan are the tallest players in NBA history, sanding at 7-foot-7. Yao Ming and Shawn Bradley are both 7-foot-6.

Wembanyama is a few inches shorter, but he could add a few inches as he matures.
