The Lakers entered this postseason with a perfect home record, and it looked like it would remain that way. Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic was struggling in the game and had as many fouls as made field goals (four). Anthony Davis was having a great game.

However, the Nuggets stepped up when needed. Michael Malone's team made a 13-0 run from the 7:48 mark of the fourth quarter until the 4:50 mark, which essentially won them the game. Jokic had 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting in the final frame.

James finished with 23 points, 12 assists, and 7 rebounds but missed 11 of his 19 shots. Davis had 28 points on 11-for-18 shooting, 18 rebounds.

James reaction to Game 3 loss

The 20-year veteran remains positive despite the Lakers' precarious position.

"Just got to get one," James said. "Just one at a time. Just focus on Game 4, and you know, that's all you can really think about...it's a 1-game series for us" via ESPN.

James said role players made all the difference.

"I think it's been the timely shots by their role players."

He was right; Nuggets role players have been great all series, and Game 3 was no different. The trio of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (17 points), Bruce Brown (15 points), and Michael Porter Jr. (14 points) has stepped up in crucial moments, per the Athletic.

Lakers role players were underwhelming, with D'Angelo Russell (three points on 1-for-8 shooting), Jarred Vanderbilt (two points on 1-for-4), and Dennis Schroder (five points on 2-for-5) struggling all night.

The Lakers are looking to make history, but NBA teams are 0-149 when trailing 3-0 in a best-of-seven series.

Malone blasts media

Sports Brief earlier reported on the Nuggets coach blasting the media for focusing on the Lakers' adjustments instead of Jokic's heroics.

After Game 1, the postgame discussion was about how the Lakers switched Rui Hachimura on Jokic to allow Anthony Davis to roam the paint.

"The narrative wasn't about Nikola. … You put that in your pipe, you smoke it. And you come back, and you know what, we're gonna go up 2-0."
