"We are aware of the social media video involving Ja Morant. He is suspended from all team activities pending league review. We have no further comment at this time."

Morant in hot water again

The latest Instagram live video, which was captured on Saturday night and widely shared online, shows Morant appearing to hold a handgun while he was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

A person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press that the Instagram video was streamed on the account of Davonte Pack, an associate of Morant.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because neither the Grizzlies nor the league has commented on the specifics of the latest Instagram video.

The league released a statement through spokesman Mike Bass, saying:

“We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information.”

Morant was suspended last March

The video that got the Grizzlies star suspended during the past season happened when he went live on his own Instagram account in early March while holding a weapon at a club in Colorado.

After that video went viral, Morant took time away from basketball and sought help, with the 23-year-old getting counseling in Florida.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver issued a statement before handing Morant his eight-game suspension, saying:

“Ja’s conduct was irresponsible, reckless, and potentially very dangerous. It also has serious consequences given his enormous following and influence, particularly among young fans who look up to him.

Morant talked to ESPN during his suspension and took responsibility for the video. He said that he had made a bad mistake, and he could see the image that he had painted over himself with his recent mistakes.

Morant made a promise, saying he is going to show everybody who Ja really is and what he is about and change this narrative in the future.

Months after that interview aired, Morant was back to his old ways.
