The former point guard married his wife Kim in 1987. They first met at Dunbar High School in 1984. Kim and her husband have two children together, a daughter Brittney, and a son Ty. After completing high school, Bogues earned a scholarship to Wake Forest University. He helped the school team win several matches as the star point guard. He left Wake Forest as the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) career leader in steals and assists.

NBA career

Bogues joined the NBA in 1987 following his selection by the Washington Bullets in the first round of the 12th overall pick. He made his debut on 6 November 1987 against the Atlanta Hawks. The point guard then moved to Charlotte Hornets, where he broke several records, including career steals and assists.

In the 1993-1994 season, he averaged 10.8 points per game and 10.7 assists. Bogues also led the Hornets to three playoffs. However, he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, forcing him to miss several games. In 1997, he joined the Golden State Warriors and played for two seasons before ending his career with the Toronto Raptors.
