Devin Booker Embarks on a Historic Scoring Run in the 2023 NBA Playoffs

  • Devin Booker scored 331 points in his first nine games in this year’s NBA playoffs
  • Booker scored 47 points in Game 5 against the Clippers and Game 3 against the Nuggets

Devin Booker has been unstoppable in this year’s playoffs.

He has scored a whopping 331 points in his first nine games for the Phoenix Suns this postseason.

Only the great Michael Jordan has scored more points to start a playoff run in that number of games.

Suns vs. Clippers (Game 1) 

Phoenix’s playoff campaign got off to a rocky start, with the Suns losing to the Los Angeles Clippers 115-110 in Game 1 of their first-round series.

Booker scored 26 points in the series opener. He shot 10 of 19 from the field, including 0 for 3 from beyond the arc.

He was a menace on the defensive end in this contest, recording four steals and three blocks.

Suns vs. Clippers (Game 2) 

The Suns evened the series at one game apiece with a 123-109 win over the Clippers in Game 2.

Booker led Phoenix to victory, scoring 38 points on 14 of 22 shooting. He also knocked down all six of his free throws.

He did most of his damage in the third quarter, scoring 18 of his 38 points during that period.

Suns vs. Clippers (Game 3)

The Suns regained home-court advantage with a 129-124 win over the Clippers in Game 3 of their first-round series.

Booker wreaked havoc against the Clippers, finishing with 45 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.

It was his fifth career 40-point playoff game.  He shot 18 of 29 from the floor, including 3 of 7 from the 3-point area.

Suns vs. Clippers (Game 4)

Booker helped the Suns take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series, scoring 30 points in Phoenix’s 112-100 win over the LA Clippers in Game 4.

He shot 10 of 21 from the field, including 3 of 6 from deep. Booker also knocked down seven of his eight free throws.

He stuffed the stat sheet in the Game 4 win, finishing with nine rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.

Suns vs. Clippers (Game 5)

Booker saved the best for last in the first-round matchup against the Clippers, scoring 47 points in Phoenix’s 136-130 win in the series clincher.

He shot 19 of 27 from the field in Game 5, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.

Booker nearly recorded a triple-double as he finished with ten assists and eight rebounds.

He delivered an offensive masterclass in the third quarter, scoring 25 of his 47 points during that period.

He shot 10 of 11 from the field in the third-quarter rally, including a tomahawk dunk and three 3-pointers.

Suns vs. Nuggets (Game 1)

The Suns had their four-game winning streak in the playoffs snapped in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals, losing 125-107 to the Denver Nuggets.

Booker scored 27 points in the series opener after averaging 37.2 points in the first round against the Clippers.

Suns vs. Nuggets (Game 2) 

Booker led the Suns in Game 2, scoring 35 points on 14 of 29 shooting. His efforts went for naught, though, as Phoenix suffered a 97-87 loss to fall into a 0-2 hole in the series.

Suns vs. Nuggets (Game 3) 

Booker made history in the Suns’ 121-114 win over the Nuggets in Game 3. He tied his playoff career-high with 47 points, making this his fourth 45-point game in the playoffs.

He shot 20 of 25 from the field, including 5 of 8 from beyond the arc.

Booker became just the second player in NBA playoff history to score at least 40 points while shooting at least 80 percent from the field.

He joined Dirk Nowitzki in that exclusive list, with the German accomplishing that feat in the Mavs’ 2011 championship run.

Suns vs. Nuggets (Game 4)

Booker continued his excellent play in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals, scoring 36 points and dishing out a playoff career-high 12 assists in the Suns’ 129-124 win over the Nuggets.

He shot 14 of 18 from the field in Game 4. Booker became the first player in NBA history with at least 35 points on at least 75% shooting in two straight postseason games.

The Suns guard is making a case for one of the best postseasons ever, averaging 36.8 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game, per Yahoo! Sports.

He is shooting 61.7% from the field and hitting 51% of his 3-point attempts in this year's playoffs.

Suns edge past Nuggets 

Sports Brief recently reported on the Suns’ win over the Nuggets in Game 4.

Kevin Durant and Booker combined for 72 points to help the Suns tie the series at 2-2.

Action shifts to Denver for Game 5 on Tuesday night.
