Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura stole the show for the 17-time NBA champions, scoring a combined 52 points.

James eavesdrops on Brooks

In the second quarter, Brooks was called over by Grizzlies coach, Taylor Jenkins who wanted to pass a message. As he strode towards Jenkins, James hilariously followed him.

As Brooks leaned in to hear what his coach was saying, the scoring king did the same.

It is common for opposing players to sneak into the opponent's huddles. Lance Stephenson famously did the same when his Indiana Pacers faced James's Miami Heat in the playoffs in 2014.

The Grizzlies' defeat was overshadowed by a hand injury to franchise player, Ja Morant. It is unclear if the point guard will return in Game 2 on Wednesday night.

Brooks wants to beat James

Sports Brief earlier reported on Brooks saying he is looking forward to playing against James, saying it will be a good test for his team.

However, the Grizzlies star added that it would be great to knock the 38-year-old Lakers veteran out of the playoffs early in the contest.

Brooks talked about the legacy of the 'scoring king', admitting LeBron's Los Angeles team would definitely test the from Memphis team.
