The Western Conference has been a battleground throughout the season while the usual suspects have dominated the East.
Sports Brief looked at the most disappointing teams from the conferences in the regular season.
9. Utah Jazz
The Jazz have had an intriguing season. By trading franchise cornerstones, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, they looked like they were in tank mode after a lack of continuity in the few years.
79 games into the 2022/23 season and they still have a chance to make the play-in tournament.
Utah made big moves before the trade deadline but still kept some top NBA talent. They now have All-Star, Lauri Markkanen, who is having a phenomenal season.
Therefore, their incredible start under Will Hardy was great but may result in nothing great, like getting Wembanyama in the draft or making the playoffs. What was their objective this season?
8. Portland Trail Blazers
When Joe Cronin took over as general manager last May, he expressed the intention of building a contender around Damian Lillard. To date, he has not achieved that goal.
The Balzers have been eliminated from playoff contention despite Lillard having a career season. His loyalty and patience have been admirable, but they may not be infinite.

Football7. Chicago Bulls
The Bulls made the playoffs last season but have been disappointing this season. Much of that is owed to injury, especially to Lonzo Ball, who hasn't played an NBA game since January 2022.
DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic are talented players but the fit isn't great. They have clinched a play-in spot but they are far from threatening top Eastern Conference teams.
6. Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks were expected to make a leap after acquiring Dejounte Murray. They fired Nate McMillan after a poor season and have clinched a play-in spot, but some would feel they are better than that.
Trae Young is averaging 26.2 points in 72 games, but his three-point percentage has dipped significantly. He shot 38.2% last season in the NBA but is draining just 33.7 this campaign.
5. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves were expected to be one of the top teams in the West after acquiring Rudy Gobert in the summer from the Jazz. They are now 9th in the West with a 40-40 record, struggling with Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns.

NBAThey have the 10th-best defensive rating (113.8) in the league but the 7th-worst offensive rating (113.4) compared to last season (114.3). However, Gobert, Towns, and Anthony Edwards have plenty of time to figure things out.
4. Miami Heat
The Heat have regressed significantly this season. They were the No. 1 seed in the East last season and even went to the conference finals, losing to the Boston Celtics in seven games. This campaign, they are 7th with a 42-37 record.
They failed to make any major moves in the offseason, and it is hard to imagine them making noise in the playoffs if they make it there.
3. Brooklyn Nets
The Nets started the season hoping to make amends for last season's abysmal first-round series against the Celtics. They kept Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and even had a 12-game winning streak in December.
Fast forward to April, they have neither Durant nor Irving and talks of them being a contender have evaporated. Losing two stars after getting them just a few years ago without much in return is truly disappointing.
Portland Trail Blazers reportedly shut down Damian Lillard for remainder of season
NBA2. Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers looked like they were going to miss the playoffs for the second time in a row after a dismal 2-10 start and now they are on the brink of advancing.
However, a dreadful 2021/22 season meant LeBron James and LA would come in swinging. They only looked decent after trading Russell Westbrook before the trade deadline.
1. Golden State Warriors
The reigning NBA champions have had a poor campaign. Without Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson performing at their best, they have not lived up to their usual standards and have one of the worst records on the road.
Steve Kerr's team has gone through a lot this season, with injuries and Andrew Wiggins's long absence. Still, they have been the far more disappointing team.
Curry on Wiggins
Sports Brief earlier reported on Warriors star, Curry sending Wiggins a message while he was away from the team.
