Sixers at Celtics (October 18)

Boston and Philadelphia were chosen to open the 2022-23 NBA regular season. The Celtics and the Sixers did not disappoint as they engaged in a thrilling, high-scoring affair.

Boston ultimately prevailed, pulling off a 126-117 victory, per ESPN. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown starred for the Celtics, each scoring 35 points in the win.

They helped give interim coach, Joe Mazzulla a victory in his debut. He replaced Ime Udoka, who was embroiled in a cheating scandal just before the season started.

James Harden scored 35 points for Philadelphia, his most since joining the Sixers last season. Joel Embiid registered a double-double in the loss, finishing with 26 points and 15 rebounds.

Sixers at Celtics (February 8)

The Celtics pulled off a 106-99 win over the Sixers despite missing several of their key starters. Al Horford, Marcus Smart, and Robert Williams III all missed the contest due to various injuries.

Brown also missed the entire second half after getting hit by Tatum’s elbow in the left side of his head. That didn’t deter the shorthanded Celtics from recording another win over the Sixers.

Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White led the way for the Celtics, each scoring 19 points. Tatum nearly recorded a triple-double, finishing with 12 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.

Boston’s reserves proved to be the difference, with the Celtics outscoring the Sixers 31-21 in bench points.

Celtics at Sixers (February 25)

The Celtics continued their mastery of the Sixers, recording a 110-107 win on the road. Tatum drove a dagger through the Sixers’ hearts, burying a 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left to give Boston the lead.

However, Embiid sent the fans into a frenzy as he connected on a 70-foot shot to tie the game. Unfortunately for the star and the Sixers faithful, the referees ruled that his desperation heave came just a tick after the buzzer had sounded.

It was a disappointing loss for the Sixers, who had a 15-point lead in the third quarter. All five starters scored in double figures for the Celtics, who won their season series against Philly.

Boston's remaining games

Sports Brief recently reported on the Celtics’ remaining schedule in this NBA season.

They will face the 76ers, the Raptors (twice), and the Hawks in their last four games.

The Boston team will finish their NBA regular season with a three-game homestand.
