The 2023 NBA All-Star Draft is now done and dusted, with team captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo already selecting their respective rosters ahead of the All-Star Game.

The "Greek Freak" made a funny mistake, though, picking Ja Morant as a reserve for Team Giannis during the draft.

The NBA altered the format days before the draft, with the reserves being picked first instead of the starters, per CBS Sports.

Giannis makes draft error

Antetokounmpo had the honor of selecting first in the reserves section of the All-Star Draft. Giannis had already chosen Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday when he made the hilarious gaffe.

He decided to select Morant as his third pick. It was not a bad selection, as the Memphis Grizzlies guard is one of the best players in the NBA right now.

One big problem: Morant was not eligible to be picked at that point as he was included in the pool of starters.

He made history this year by becoming the first player in Grizzlies history to be named to the starting roster of the All-Star Game twice.

Morant replaced Stephen Curry in the starting lineup after the latter injured his leg in the game against the Dallas Mavericks on February 4.

LeBron laughs at Giannis' mistake

It looked like Giannis did not get the memo, as he still picked Morant as a reserve. Antetokounmpo delivered quite an intro for his pick, only to be disappointed when he was told Morant could not be selected then.

That sent the crowd and players into hysterics, with LeBron unable to hold his laughter after Giannis’ error. James said his fellow team captain “is trying anything y’all.”

It still worked out well for Giannis, though, as he was still able to select Morant later in the draft.

Sports Brief recently reported on the draft selections of Team Giannis and Team LeBron. Antetokounmpo selected Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell, Lauri Markkanen, and Morant as his starters for Team Giannis while James picked Joel Embiid, Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, and Nikola Jokic as his fellow starters for Team LeBron.

The reserves for Team Giannis are Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, DeMar DeRozan, Pascal Siakam, Bam Adebayo, and Domantas Sabonis.

The reserves for Team LeBron are Anthony Edwards, Jaylen Brown, Paul George, Tyrese Haliburton, Julius Randle, De'Aaron Fox, and Jaren Jackson Jr.
