The Golden State Warriors’ playoff push took a huge hit on Sunday after superstar, Stephen Curry was diagnosed with a lower-leg contusion as well as partial tears to the superior tibiofibular ligaments and his interosseous membrane.

He is now in danger of missing the 2023 All-Star Game because of the injury.

The four-time NBA champion suffered the leg injury during the third quarter of Saturday night's victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

The Warriors immediately knew something was wrong as their talisman limped back to the bench and later into the locker room.

The team announced on Saturday that an X-ray on Curry’s knee came back negative, but he was still ruled out of the remainder of the contest.

The Warriors were hoping their star's injury was not serious, but that appears not to be the case.

Sources have told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that the two-time MVP is expected to be out through the All-Star break in mid-February because of the left leg injury.

Curry to return this season

The good news for the Warriors is that Curry’s injury is not season-ending.

Even though there is no solid timeline yet for his return, Golden State hopes he can be back in action after the NBA All-Star break ends on February 23.

This would be Curry’s second extended absence for the Warriors this season. The sharpshooter missed 11 combined games back in December and January when he suffered a left shoulder subluxation, with the Warriors going just 6-5 during that time.

He has been a vital cog for the Golden State this season, averaging 29.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game this campaign.

No All-Star Game for Steph?

SportsBrief earlier reported on Curry stating that it has been an amazing run for him and being an All-Star is something he never ever takes for granted.

The 34-year-old dazzled the crowd in last year’s All-Star Game, scoring 50 points and knocking down 16 3-pointers, bagging the MVP crown in the process.

He may unfortunately not be able to defend that title, with an injury to Curry's left leg possibly ruling him out for the highly anticipated showpiece event.
