James shocked by superb stat

Smith, the No. 3 pick in the most recent draft reminded James just how long he has been playing in the middle of the game. The Rockets youngster revealed to James that, as a rookie, he played against his father in an NBA game.

It was an interesting conversation and James was not sure.

"You played against my dad in your first NBA game ever," Smith said to James.
"Why did you do that to me?" James replied
You feel old, don't you?" Smith responded as both chuckled.

Smith's father, Jabari Smith Sr., played against James in the Lakers star's first NBA game on October 30, 2003, when he was a member of the Sacramento Kings, per CBS Sports.

After the game, James jokingly said it made him feel a bit old, per ESPN.

"It made me feel extremely old when Junior told me that."

James is edging closer to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record of 38,387 points, upping his total to 38,072.

James incredible milestone

Sports Brief earlier reported on James becoming just the second player after Abdul-Jabbar to score at least 38,000 points.

The former Miami Heat superstar eclipsed the mark with a midrange jumper from an assist from Russell Westbrook with 5:43 to play in the first quarter vs the Sixers in a recent game.

James is expected to become the outright leader in scoring sometime next month.
