Memphis Grizzlies star, Ja Morant made the day of a young fan by gifting her his gear after her prized signed basketball was stolen.

The 11-year-old fan had been bringing the same ball to Grizzlies home games since she was five years old. During that span, the ball was signed by numerous of the team's players.

The fan, identified as Ellie Hughes, had her basketball stolen by adult fans in the Grizzlies game versus the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. A local news station ran a story about the young girl, who said she was heartbroken by the ordeal.

The Grizzlies won the entertaining game 135-129 to extend their winning streak to eight straight games, per Clutch Points.

Morant scored 38 points on 14-for-25 shooting from the field and 3-for-3 from deep. The 23-year-old also had the highlight of the game by dunking over Spurs centre, Jakob Poeltl with 3:35 left.

After hearing about Hughes' plight on social media, Morant made sure the young fan went home happy after the tragic events of the last few days. He then reached out to her and her family.

After the game, the star gave away his game-worn jersey and signed Ja 1 Nike sneakers, which will publicly be released later this year. He said that the gesture was near to his heart, per Fox Sports.

“It’s something I pretty much love to do. You touch somebody’s heart like that. A big fan of the Grizzlies for years. It’s moments like that that mean the most to them. Something they will never forget.”

The Grizzlies are now joint top in the Western Conference with the Denver Nuggets, with a 28-13 record. They play the Indiana Pacers next.

Morant to release signature sneakers

Sports Brief earlier reported on Morant becoming the 23rd player in NBA history to have a signature shoe deal. He unveiled the Ja 1s in the Grizzlies' first-ever Christmas Day game against rivals Golden State Warriors - a game they ended up losing.

The 23-year-old All-Star joins LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Paul George on the roster of Nike’s current NBA signature athletes.

Morant's popularity in the NBA has been growing thanks mostly to his impressive performances for the Grizzlies in the past four years, and the signature shoe is a testament to his hard work.
