LeBron James proved why age is just a number after producing a dominant performance for the Los Angeles Lakers in their game against the Atlanta Hawks on the road.

On his birthday, James scored 47 points on 18-for-27 shooting, 10 rebounds and 9 assists as the Lakers won 130-121.

James entered the game on a terrific run, which unfortunately didn't help the Lakers improve their poor run. However, against the Hawks, he looked like someone on a mission.

The 38-year-old joined Michael Jordan as the only other player in NBA history to record at least 45 points, 10 rebounds and five assists at 38 years of age.

His 47 points is the third-highest for a player after turning 38 years old. The other two players are Jordan and Jamal Crawford, both of whom put up 51 points, per CBS Sports.

James reaction after dropping 47

According to ESPN, LeBron predicted that he would score 40 plus since scoring 30 wasn't working. In the last few games, he scored 30 plus against Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks but his team lost.

"I've been scoring 30 and it hasn't worked so ... try 40. And we got a win. It's math."

The four-time NBA MVP shook off a shaky 1-for-5 start but bounced back superbly, going 18-for-27 from the field and helping the Lakers erase a 15-point deficit, to seal their biggest comeback win of the season.

Lakers coach Darvin Ham said he wasn't shocked by James's incredible display.

"The dude is nothing short of phenomenal, amazing. But it's something I expect. Like, it doesn't blow me away. It's just something I expect from him."

James gives 2 Chainz his jersey

Sports Brief earlier reported on James giving the jersey he wore during the Hawks game to 2 Chainz who was courtside.

After the buzzer rang, he took off his No. 6 uniform jersey autographed it and gave it to rapper 2 Chainz, who was sitting courtside. The two shared a lovely embrace afterward.

2 Chainz is a Hawks fan and although James took down his team, he ends the year with a special gift.
