The two Bantamweights wasted little time engaging in the middle of the Hexagon as they both sought to gain the advantage.

Zulu, who now goes by the name King Shaka, showed great agility as he ducked Sethwape’s shots and landed some of his own. The former champion, who took the fight on very short notice, looked extremely comfortable.

Zulu landed some nasty elbows in round one which almost forced the referee to stop the fight, but Sethwape was able to battle through and managed to reverse the dominance.

The rest of the round saw both men trade dominant positions on the ground.

Round 2

The second round was a tactical battle between the two as Sethwape took control of the bout on the ground but Zulu showed his experience.

Despite being on the back foot at first, Zulu hooked in a triangle choke which looked like it would be enough to give him the win. Sethwape wouldn’t tap, even with the elbows he was taking to the head and Zulu then locked in an arm bar.

Once again Bad News refused to submit and got out of the hold. He then finished the round in top control as he landed some big shots to Zulu on the ground.

Round 3

Zulu started the third round with a jumping knee and immediately tried to hook in a headlock on Sethwape, but Bad News broke out of it and got control of the bout.

Zulu managed to reverse the position and get control, but Sethwape managed to defend it for a while. Zulu then got Sethwape’s back and got a hand under the neck, but Bad News showed incredible resilience.

Zulu continued to hunt the submission but somehow Sethwape managed to get top control with 20 seconds to go in the round.

Round 4

The fourth round started with both fighters trying to trade shots. Zulu was controlling the space and using his agility to dodge shots and retaliate with his own.

Realising that he was no match for King Shaka in the striking game, Sethwape took the fight to the ground but it proved to be the wrong choice. Despite having control at first, Zulu reversed the decision and finally hooked in a rear naked choke, forcing Bad News to tap out.

Zulu competes for Bantamweight title

Sports Brief earlier reported how former Bantamweight champion Nkazimulo Zulu was stepping in to take a title shot.

Zulu took a fight on short notice to challenge for the Bantamweight gold at EFC 105.

A match-up was announced between bitter rivals, Musa Sethwape and Shannon van Tonder, but the latter had to withdraw through a medical issue.
