Hulme, a veteran of the sport, returned to the EFC and took just one round to tap out The Gorilla. Makengele was undefeated coming into the fight and was the betting favourite to retain his title.

Hulme used his long legs to keep the champion at bay during the opening seconds of the round, before going in for the grapple and tying Makengele up.

Makengele tried his best to use his power to break free, but Hulme showed exceptional skills to wrap him up and eventually take his title back. Hulme then locked in a tight rear-naked choke, forcing The Gorilla to tap out.

During his post-match interview, Hulme talked about hoping to make the move to the UFC.

His teammates Du Plessis and Saaiman are both undefeated in the organisation, with du Plessis currently making headlines after Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya threatened to drag his carcass across South Africa.
