  • Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani hit home runs in the Angels’ win on Wednesday
  • Zach Neto also homered for the Angels, who swept the three-game series against Boston
  • The homers helped Angels starting pitcher, Tim Anderson notch his first win in eight starts

Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani homered in the same game for the 26th time since they became teammates, leading the Los Angeles Angels to their fourth straight victory and an impressive sweep of the Boston Red Sox with a 7-3 win on Wednesday night.

Ohtani hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to give the Angels a 5-0 lead.

The Japanese star displayed his power, hitting the ball to the opposite field for his 12th homer of the season.

Ohtani, Trout hit towering blasts

The pitch that Ohtani swung on for the home run was 3.74 feet above the ground. That makes it the second-highest pitch on which he has ever homered.

Trout launched a ball into the seats in the fourth inning to tie Ohtani once again for the team lead in home runs this season.

It was a historic blast for Trout, who surpassed Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio with his 362nd career home run.

Good things happen to the Angels when both Ohtani and Trout go deep in the same game. They are 4-0 this season when the MVP duo homer in the same contest.

Neto continues to impress

Zach Neto got the party started for the Angels, who have won six of their last seven games.

He launched a three-run blast in the bottom of the second inning to give the Angels a 4-0 lead.

It was the 22-year-old rookie’s third career homer.

Neto also had a single and a double to record the first three-hit game of his career.

Tim Anderson gladly welcomed that offensive support as he won for the first time in eight starts.

He has had seven straight no-decisions since making his debut for the Angels on April 2.

Anderson surrendered five hits and one run over six innings in Wednesday’s win.

Panthers sweep Hurricanes

Sports Brief recently reported on the Panthers reaching the Stanley Cup Final.

Matthew Tkachuk scored with 4.9 seconds left to give Florida the 4-3 win over Carolina in Game 4.

It was a thrilling win for the Panthers, who advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1996.
