The GOAT is back!

Tiger Woods announced on Saturday on X that he will be returning to competitive golf in a couple of weeks.

The 15-time major champion plans to participate in the Hero World Challenge, an event Woods hosts in the Bahamas from November 30 to December 3.

Tiger's last golf event

The 47-year-old’s last appearance in a golf event came during the 2023 Masters Tournament at Augusta National back in April.

He couldn’t finish that event, withdrawing during the third round of the year’s first major due to injury.

Woods underwent subtalar fusion surgery on his right ankle two weeks after the Masters to address the post-traumatic arthritis he was dealing with.

That issue was caused by injuries the five-time Masters champion suffered during a car wreck in February 2021.

Since that single-car accident in California, Woods has played in only five PGA Tour events, per ESPN.

Tiger's world ranking plummets

He only played two tournaments this year, tying for 45th place at the Genesis tournament back in February and making the cut at the Masters after carding rounds of 74-73.

Woods’ inactivity the past few years has cost him dearly in the Official World Golf Rankings. The former No. 1 golfer in the world is now ranked 1,307th.

That is the worst-ever ranking for Woods, who spent a record 683 weeks in the No. 1 position during his heyday.

Woods' TGR Live Events also revealed on Saturday that Justin Rose and Lucas Glover will be part of the 20-man field for this year’s Hero World Challenge.

American stars Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are no longer playing in the tournament, per PGATour.com.
