The merger between PGA Tour and LIV Golf has left everyone in shock.

The stunning announcement came out of nowhere, with many players from both tours not being aware of what was happening.

Golfers' reactions to the merger

Collin Morikawa, like everyone, was surprised by the news, writing that he loves 'finding out morning news on Twitter'.

Michael S. Kim wondered how many people knew about the deal, before sarcastically asking, 'Player run organization right?'

Gabby Herzig posted a message from American professional golfer Sahith Theegala, who blasted the 'utter lack of communication.'

Theegala wrote that it was crazy that the top 10 players in the world found out about the news via Twitter.

Mackenzie Hughes echoed Theegala’s sentiment, writing, 'Nothing like finding out through Twitter that we’re merging with a tour that we said we’d never do that with.'

Tyrrell Hatton was shocked by the news as well, posting a meme with the caption, 'That came out of nowhere'.

Wesley Bryan wrote that he feels betrayed and that he 'will not be able to trust anyone within the corporate structure of the PGA TOUR for a very long time'.

Byeong Hun An had some jokes about the merger, writing that 'Hideki could have bought spirit airlines if he had signed with liv tour.'

He was talking about 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, who was spotted boarding a Spirit Airlines flight after the Memorial Tournament.

Matsuyama was reportedly offered a huge money deal by LIV Golf months ago.

LIV golfers were obviously delighted with the news, per Golf Digest.

Phil Mickelson took to social media to share his joy regarding the merger, writing, 'awesome day today'.

Brooks Koepka, who won the PGA Championship just weeks ago, wrote 'Welfare Check on Chamblee'.

Hovland caddies for his pal

Sports Brief recently reported on Viktor Hovland caddying for his pal at a U.S. Open qualifier.

The 25-year-old Norwegian carried the bag for Zach Bauchou, his former roommate and teammate at Oklahoma State.

This happened in Columbus, Ohio on Monday, just hours after Hovland won the Memorial Tournament in a playoff.
