Michael Block was undoubtedly the fan favorite in this week’s PGA Championship.
The 46-year-old teaching pro sent the patrons at Oak Hill Country Club into a frenzy when he sank an incredible ace on the par-3 15th hole on Sunday.
His swing on the 151-yard hole hit the bullseye, with his tee shot landing straight into the pin for an improbable slam-dunk hole-in-one.
Block stuns with ace
The shot left Block and his playing partner Rory McIlroy stunned, with the fans around them also losing it.
Block talked to CBS about the ace after his round, saying:
“I couldn’t really see it. I knew it hit the pin, but I had no idea that it went.”
Block added he was surprised when Rory came over and gave him a hug, saying:
“Why is Rory giving me a hug if I’m hitting it close, right? That’s kind of weird.”
Block became emotional when CBS showed him the video of his home club’s reaction to his hole-in-one.
Block noted that he is living the dream and he is making sure that he enjoys this moment.
He cherished the opportunity that was given to him, saying:
“I've learned that after my 46 years of life that it's not going to get better than this. There's no way. No chance in hell. So I'm going to enjoy this, and thank you."
Block's major feat
Block’s ace was the first hole-in-one at the PGA Championship since Ben An recorded that feat in 2020, per Yahoo! Sports.

FootballWhat made Block’s accomplishment even more incredible was that he has not competed much at this top level before.
Block has made the cut just four times in 24 PGA tournaments since 2007, the most recent of which came at the 2015 Barbasol Championship, where he finished in a tie for 71st.
Block had never made a cut at a major before this week.
