  • Tottenham successfully bullied Everton to hijack their signing of Arnaut Danjuma
  • The Dutch winger had done medicals at Goodison Park before the Spurs' poaching

Antonio Conte added another firearm to his shy attack with the loan signing of Dutch forward, Arnaut Danjuma from Spanish club Villarreal, with no option or clause to make it permanent.

According to reports in England, he had passed his Everton medical last Saturday before things escalated at the Merseyside club, opting to switch sides when Tottenham Hotspur came with an offer.

They did not hide their displeasure at the transfer strategy that led to the signing of the Nigerian-born player.

Twitter user @AntonRosengr3n listed the options across several positions in the club which he deemed weak, saying these should have been strengthened instead.

''Yet Conte still has to choose between Lenglet/Davies/Dier/Sanchez/Tanganga when building his back line, And Royal/Doherty/Spence in the RWB position, and Lloris is still the starting goalkeeper.''

@JGC1898 wrote:

"He's a very good player, but the question is: will he play more than 25 minutes per match? I mean, if you sign a quality player, you are supposed to make him play. If not, he's going to be a Richarlison 2.0"

@mid_ee tweeted:

''We only need to sign players that can improve our squad,we already have so many average players. I'm happy Levy finally opened his purse but Danjuma is not the profile of player to get us to the UCL. Another underwhelming signing. I hope I'm proven wrong.''

@Kyng_Kayle wrote:

''Now let's sit back and watch Conte use him as a Wing back because he doesn't want to bench Son. I like Son but his form hasn't been good this season, yet he somehow starts every single game and performs poorly every time.''

Danjuma's message to Tottenham fans

As part of his announcement, the club uploaded a five-second video of their new signing on Twitter, in which he introduced himself and said he was raring to get on the pitch.

Some fans raised issues with his closing line, after he said, 'Let's go' as opposed to 'Come on, you Spurs'.

Mourinho breaks Spurs hearts

Sports Brief earlier reported that Jose Mourinho is confident wantaway winger Nicolo Zaniolo will stay at Roma beyond the January transfer window.

His former club, Tottenham are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old Italian, but the Special One said expressing desire to leave does not mean actually leaving.

The relationship between Mourinho and Spurs ended on a bad note after he was fired as head coach six days before the Carabao Cup final.
