SuperSport United CEO, Stan Matthews, confirmed that the club will not renew his contract when it expires at the end of the month, iDiskiTimes reported.

“He’s been on suspension. We’ve decided that from our part as a football club this matter is a serious matter, that he needs to go and attend to and see to his family and his priorities,” Matthews recently said on Power Sport Extra.

Matthews added that they encouraged the player to focus on clearing his name and ensuring that his child gets the best care possible.

Why was Mahachi accused of child abuse?

Mahachi was suspended by SuperSport United after his ex-wife alleged that he scalded their 4-year-old son with boiling hot water, Soccer24 reported.

Mahachi’s son, Diego, suffered serious injuries and had to have his right foot amputated due to the severe burns.

Mahachi fled to Zimbabwe following the allegations but denied that he was guilty of the crime.
