The Super Eagles of Nigeria will trade tackles with Costa Rica in an international friendly, scheduled for San Jose on November 10.

Coach of the Nigerian team, Jose Peseiro is yet to name his squad for the encounter, which is the first-ever international friendly between both countries.

It is believed the Eagles' camp opened in Ibadan on Monday with assistant coach Salisu Yusuf present, alongside 15 home-based players.

Soccernet reports that the home-based stars selected for the friendly will join their foreign-based players before the game.

Although it is a mere friendly, the encounter will serve as a tune-up for the World Cup-bound Costa Rica.

Nigeria did not qualify for the Mundial, after falling at the last hurdle to eternal rivals Ghana.

NFF confirms owing Jose Peseiro

Meanwhile, an official from the Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that the football body owes Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro.

Reports had filtered in that the Portuguese tactician is being owed about six months of his salary, having received only allowances and bonuses.

It is believed that Peseiro, employed in May 2022, has not received a single paycheck since he took up the job.

The current law by FIFA grants the manager grounds to terminate his contract without prejudice and also specifies he must be paid in full.

Oliseh hints at coaching Super Eagles again

Sports Brief earlier reported that former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh has stated that he could still return as the coach of the Super Eagles, if his terms and conditions are met by the NFF chiefs.

NFF chiefs are the ones in charge of all football matters in Nigeria and have the responsibility of hiring coaches for all the national teams.

Oliseh was hired as the Super Eagles coach in 2015 by the former NFF president Amaju Pinnick, but his reign as the gaffer of the three-time African champions lasted less than a year.
