Nigerian International Odion Ighalo Named in Saudi Pro League Team of the Season

• Odion Ighalo scored 24 goals in the Saudi Pro League last season and the Super Eagles star has been recognised
• Ighalo has been named in the Saudi Professional League team of the season alongside teammate Salem Al Dawsari
• The Nigerian international also inspired his side to the league title claiming the first ever trophy of his career

Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo has been recognised following his impressive performance in the Saudi Professional Football League last season.

The 33-year-old scored 24 goals last season to emerge the highest scorer as he also inspired Al Hilal to win the league title.

He has been named in the Saudi Professional League team of the season having featured for Al-Shabab in the earlier half of the campaign.

The former Manchester United striker scored twice in Al-Hilal’s final league game of the season as they defeated Al-Faisaly 2-1 to win the title.

It was Ighalo’s first since he started playing professional football 17 years ago.

His teammate, Salem Al Dawsari was also included in the Team of the Season. Egypt and former West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi were also included in the squad.

The forward who grew up in the Ajegunle area of Lagos began his professional career at Prime FC of Osun State in 2005 and then moved to Julius Berger FC the following year.

Ighalo moved to Europe in 2007, where he joined Norwegian outfit, Lyn, as he also played for clubs in China as well as England.

"Delighted over his first-ever career title", the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram.
