Statement from the Super Eagles media team

''Update! Maduka Okoye out of the clash against Ghana due to illness, he has been replaced by Enyimba FC goalkeeper, John Noble. Get well soon Maduks!.''

Maduka Okoye has been the Super Eagles number one goalie even before former coach Gernot Rohr was sacked and current gaffer Eguavoen sticked with him at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.

What was the result of Super Eagles at AFCON 2021?

Eguavoen and his wards won their first three games at the 2021 African Cup of Nations before suffering a defeat against Tunisia in the knockout.

Despite crashing out in the round of 16, the Nigerian Football chiefs decided to continue with Eguavoen and has given him the mandate to beat Ghana for 2022 World Cup ticket.
