However, after the game, Etebo who last appeared for Watford in September against Newcastle United said on the club's website:

“I’m excited to be back, I must say I’m overwhelmed. It’s been a long time, five months I’ve been out, so I need to make sure I do all the work well to make sure everything is back to normal.
“Even if I am back on the pitch we are still at the bottom of the table which is not a good result, so though I’m glad to be back I know there’s a lot of work for us to do.”

The Nigerian midfielder was very disappointed with the Hornets’ performance but is ready to move on quickly in preparation for a trip to Southampton this weekend.

Troost-Ekong declared fit for Nigeria vs Ghana World Cup playoffs

Meanwhile, William Troost-Ekong has been passed fit to represent Nigeria in this month's crucial World Cup play-offs against Ghana.

Ekong was reported to have picked up an injury that was expected to rule the 28-year-old out of contention the important fixture but has recovered in time to make the trip.

Ekong resumed full training on March 9 after being cleared by the Watford medical team to make a comeback.

The Watford defender was on Friday, March 4 included in the Super Eagles 32-man roster released by coach Augustine Eguavoen for the crunch World Cup qualifiers against the Black Stars.

Ogenyi Onazi delighted over Super Eagles’ return

Sports Brief earlier reported that experienced Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has claimed he was not surprised to see his name on Nigeria's standby list for the World Cup qualifier against Ghana two years since his last game for Super Eagles.

The 29-year-old joined Saudi Arabia's second division team Al-Adalah on January 19, 2022, but is yet to play for them.

Despite his lack of game time, Onazi surprisingly made the Super Eagles standby list for WCQ games against Ghana.
