  • Royal AM and Mamelodi Sundowns will meet in the Nedbank Cup in a meeting between the top two sides in the DStv Premiership
  • Marumo Gallants, who were previously known as TTM, have been drawn to play against the new TTM side
  • The dates, times and venues for the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup will be announced at a later date

The draw for the Nedbank Cup’s semi-finals has been done and dusted, and fans have been quick to poke fun at the fixtures on social media.

Marumo Gallants, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, Royal AM and Mamelodi Sundowns all made it through to the final four, with some having an easier time than others.

TTM required extra time to dispatch off SuperSport United, Soccer Laduma reported, while Royal AM also left it late to beat the University of Pretoria.

Marumo Gallants edged out Baroka by a single goal while Mamelodi Sundowns beat Summerfield Dynamos by five goals, News24 reported.

The semi-final draw will see Gallants take on TTM while Royal AM and Sundowns meet. Fans commented on the irony as Sundowns and MaMkhize’s side are first and second in the DStv Premiership while Gallants are the old TTM.

TTM won last year’s Nedbank Cup before undergoing new ownership. The club was then renamed Marumo Gallants. TTM then bought Royal AM and renamed it TTM. Royal AM then bought Bloemfontein Celtic’s Premiership status.

Here's how social media reacted to the draw:

@SfisoNdaba7:

"A final before the final Royal AM Vs Mamelodi Sundowns Nedbank Cup semi-finals."

Fans also commented on Sundowns drawing Royal AM, the first time they will face a DStv Premiership side in the tournament.

@DiscoNicholas

"Nna I won't lie shem. I'm really really really scared of Royal AM shem. I didn't want them in Semis..Better in Final #NedbankCup"

Nedbank Cup match report: Royal AM come from behind to defeat the University of Pretoria

MaMkhize's dreams of silverware in her first year of owning a football club are still alive. Royal AM had to come back from 2-0 down to win their Nedbank Cup quarterfinal against the University of Pretoria 3-2 at a wet and muddy Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.

Wonderboy Makhubu struck in the 19th and 27th minutes to set AmaTuks on the way to what seemed like a cupset by the National First Division side, Sports Brief earlier reported.

However, second-half goals from Sepana Letsoalo (a brace) and a last-minute hit from Mfundo Thikazi settled the tie. Royal AM will take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the one semi-final, while Marumo Gallants and TTM battle it out in the other.
