  • Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma drew 1-1 with Sassuolo on Wednesday night in another frustrating game for the Serie A giants
  • The Roma boss was critical of one specific player, whom he accused of costing his side the three points
  • A win would have seen Roma leap to third in the standings

Jose Mourinho did not hold back in his criticism of one specific player during his post-match interview after Roma endured a frustrating 1-1 draw against Sassuolo on Wednesday, November 9.

Roma looked to be on course for victory after Tammy Abraham scored his first Serie A goal since September as he awaits his first England call-up with a brilliant header in the 80th minute.

However, it was Sassuolo who had the last laugh as Andrea Pinamonti scored five minutes later from a swift counterattack for the game to end in a 1-1 draw.

As reported on Sky Sports, the former Chelsea boss brutally criticized an unnamed player, saying his efforts betrayed the whole team.

"It disappoints me because the effort the squad made was betrayed by one player because of an unprofessional attitude. He betrayed the effort everyone else made.” He said.
"I have already told him in the changing room, something I don't often do because normally after games I don't speak in the changing room. I had 16 players out there tonight and I was happy with the attitude of 15 of them.

Who was Mourinho talking about?

It remains somewhat of a mystery the player Mourinho was talking about in his rant, but according to Sky Itallia, the player under fire was right-back Rick Karsdorp.

Karsdorp was brought in midway through the second half against Sassuolo with the scores 0-0, and according to Italian news outlets, he lost several duels, misplaced crosses and overall failed to defend well during that game.

He joined Roma from Feyenoord in 2017 and has a contract that runs until 2025 with the Gialorossi.

Mourinho calls out Australia manager

Elsewhere Sports Brief also reported on Mourinho's criticism of the Australia coach Graham Arnold.

This is after Roma youngster Cristian Volpato, 18, made headlines this week after refusing to accept the call-up to the Australia national team heading to Qatar.

Mourinho weighed in on the saga, as he criticized the manner in which Arnold was handling the situation.

'I think it is a personal decision and the club has not been involved,' The Roma boss said, via FoxSports.
