Roma are the defending champions of the Conference League after winning the inaugural competition last season. Lazio will now have to contend with a place in the same competition after finishing third in the Europa League group.

Lazio lost to Feyenoord to drop to third in a group that also had Midtjylland. All three teams finished with eight points, but Lazio were eliminated on a goal difference.

Mourinho has now backed Lazio to win the Conference League

Mourinho has now joked that Lazio could win the Conference League, as Roma Press reports.

"I think Lazio have now become the favorites to win the Conference League. I say this with honesty. There’s West Ham, Leicester, Fiorentina, Lazio and who else? Villarreal? Lazio have the coach, the players, and the team to do it. Maybe the problem is that they have Mr. Tare who doesn’t want to win it because he doesn’t like this competition."

Mourinho's side meanwhile beat Ludogorets to qualify for the second round, where he will now meet with a team that dropped from the Champions League.

Mourinho's previous comments on Diogo Dalot resurface

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot has been one of the club's most consistent performers this season.

The Portuguese defender has earned plaudits from fans for his performances and the significant improvement he has shown since last season.

A video of former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho predicting good things for Diogo Dalot has emerged.
