Ghanaian teen sensation Felix Afena-Gyan could be part of the Black Stars team to face Nigeria in the crucial World Cup qualifier later this month.

The 19-year-old AS Roma forward returned from injury to feature for the Italian giants as they defeated Atalanta over the weekend.

His injury return is a huge boost for interim Black Stars coach Otto Addo, who is struggling to name his squad due to fitness problems with Ghanaian players abroad.

The AS Roma youngster is having a breakthrough campaign in Italy's topflight, after making his debut late last year.

He failed to report to camp for the pre-AFCON camping and subsequently dropped from the squad for the tournament in Cameroon.

He is reported to have spoken with Otto Addo and could join the team as Ghana eyes a place in Qatar 2022.

Afena-Gyan features in AS Roma's victory over Atalanta

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian teenager Felix Afena-Gyan made a cameo appearance for AS Roma in their hard-fought victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

A Tammy Abraham strike was enough to hand Jose Mourinho's side their second consecutive win in Serie A.

Afena-Gyan started the game from the bench and he was introduced late in the game after he replaced Rick Karsdorp in the 83rd minute.

Jose Mourinho recalls Afena-Gyan into Roma first team

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has invited Felix Afena-Gyan to the squad ahead of their tough fixture against Atalanta on Saturday.

The Giallorossi will host Atalanta on Saturday evening as they aim to continue their winning ways after they recorded a 1-0 hard-fought win at Spezia - their first victory in five games.

Reports circulated that Afena-Gyan was demoted to AS Roma’s Primavera (U-19 team) by the Portuguese gaffer after he reportedly went nightclubbing last weekend after their away Serie A fixture.
