AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has invited Felix Afena-Gyan to the squad ahead of their tough fixture against Atalanta on Saturday.

The Giallorossi will host Atalanta on Saturday evening as they aim to continue their winning ways after they recorded a 1-0 hard-fought win at Spezia - their first victory in five games.

Reports circulated that Afena-Gyan was demoted to AS Roma’s Primavera (U-19 team) by the Portuguese gaffer after he reportedly went nightclubbing last weekend after their away Serie A fixture.

But per Citi Sports, Afena-Gyan was sent to the Primavera team as part of his recovery process and not as a punishment for taking the decision to attend a nightclub.

Afena-Gyan makes AS Roma debut under Mourinho

Afena-Gyan made his senior debut under the Portuguese gaffer this season, scoring two goals on his third Serie A appearance on November 21.

He has gone ahead to play 12 games in Italy's top flight, becoming the first player born in 2003 to score in the Serie A.

Felix Afena-Gyan moved to Italy in January 2021, and after just 9 months, earned his first professional contract.

Jose Mourinho Punishes Ghanaian Youngster Afena-Gyan

Sports Brief earlier reported that AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has been angered by Felix-Afena-Gyan after the Ghanaian youngster reportedly went nightclubbing on Saturday in Italy.

A report by Football Italia says Mourinho was so upset by the 19-year-old antics that he decided to drop him from AS Roma's first team.

For his punishment, Mourinho has demoted Afena-Gyan to the Primavera team and he will now be training with Roma's junior team for the next few weeks.
