  • Arch rivals Madrid and Barcelona will next meet in the Copa del Rey, with Los Blancos looking to gain some revenge

Real Madrid are not going to give up their La Liga title without a fight.

The reigning champions trail Barcelona by seven points, but the Blaugrana have a game in hand.

Los Blancos dropped points once again as they drew with Atletico Madrid in a tense Madrid derby. Carlo Ancelotti's men had to rely on a late goal from Alvaro Rodriguez to secure a 1-1 draw, BBC reported.

The draw further dented Real's title hopes, but Ancelotti isn't giving up yet. As noted by Goal, the Italian manager reiterated that they would not give up without a fight.

"It's more complicated but it's not goodbye. We have to fight until the end and see what happens," Ancelotti said.

That task may be more difficult as Barcelona will have the chance to stretch their lead to 10 points when they take on Almeria. Madrid and Barcelona will face each other on March 2 in the Copa del Rey semifinal.

While it may not be a league game, it could provide Madrid with an opportunity to get a measure of revenge over their Catalan opponents and build momentum for the season ahead.

Ancelotti's men were beaten by Barca in the final of the Spanish SuperCopa and now trail them in the league, so they will be looking to get some bragging rights back. While Ancelotti is confident his side can turn things around in the league, some fans aren't so sure.

"Congratulations to Barca winning #LaLiga"

@CHMadrid10:

"Madrid should have 1 per cent seriousness. They take the UCL seriously each year but not La Liga. Madrid are 100 times more talented than Barca but lacks the seriousness that Barca has."

@EdmundOris:

"Congratulations to FC Barcelona for winning 2022/23 La Liga Title Congratulations to Xavi for winning the league in his first full season as Barca manager ❤️ "

@Shephin_Mathew:

"This season is a repeat of what has happened in the last 15 years in La Liga for Real Madrid. Every La Liga victory is followed by a lethargic summer of no squad improvement and the team is unable to defend its title the next season. Pathetic from the management."

@BaidyaPrasanna:

"2 more points dropped! This title race is turning into a one-horse race. Baffling how this team fails to turn up in La Liga matches."

Rodriguez rescues Real Madrid

Real Madrid may have just found their new star of the future.

18-year-old Alvaro Rodriguez is slowly making fans and fellow players stand up and take notice.

Rodriguez grabbed a late goal in the Madrid derby against Atletico as he secured a draw for the reigning La Liga champions, Sports Brief earlier reported.
