Putellas' second title

Putellas, arguably the greatest female player, picked up the Best Women’s Player title at the awards evening, which took place days before the World Cup is due to get underway.

Putellas beat Arsenal and England forward Beth Mead to secure her second consecutive Globe Soccer Award. Both players were unavailable to receive their awards in person.

Benzema at the World Cup

Benzema will now turn his attention to Qatar and the World Cup with France. The French attacker will be hoping to help Les Bleus defend their title and cap off an incredible few seasons for club and country.

There are concerns over his fitness though, with Football Espana reporting that Benzema is a doubt for the opening game of the tournament. France will begin their campaign with a game against Australia on Tuesday, November 22.

Ballon d'Or: Karim Benzema wins

Karim Benzema clinched the 2022 edition of the Ballon d'Or on the back of a sterling campaign with Real Madrid, which culminated in Champions League success.

Benzema, who went into the awards ceremony as the clear favourite for the coveted prize, was rated ahead of Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich and Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski respectively.

Benz has scored an impressive 44 goals in 46 appearances for Los Blancos, which includes finding the back of the net 15 times in the Champions League, Sports Brief reported.
