The Real Madrid forward didn’t score in the first half against Atletico Madrid but still got to dance when fellow Brazilian Rodrygo scored.

Rodrygo opened the scoring in the 18th minute when he latched onto a beautifully chipped balled over the defense from Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Rodrygo made no mistake in finishing the chance and ran straight to the corner, where he was joined by Vini Jr.

The two Brazilians then started dancing, angering the Atletico fans.

Supporters started to throw items onto the field at the Madrid players, adding to the tension in the derby.

Vini almost grabbed a goal of his own 18 minutes later when he combined well with Modric, tore past the defenders, and hit the post. The ball deflected away into the path of Fede Valverde, who smashed home from close range to give Real a 2-0 lead at the break.

The second half was a much more subdued affair.

Atletico pressured their opponents more as they sought a goal but no matter what they tried, there always seemed to be a Real player in the way.

Tchouaméni, in particular, was mighty at breaking up plays and intercepting crucial passes.

Vini Jr continued to try and rile up the Atleti players and often got the desired effect. With time running out, a Real win looked inevitable until the 80 minutes.

Los Rojiblancos got another corner and finally scored from it. Courtois came out to punch the ball and missed. Mario Hermoso profited from the mistake and shouldered the ball into the back of the net.

The goal gave Atletic fans a lot to cheer about as they tried to urge their players on to grab an equaliser. Tensions threatened to boil over in the closing minutes as both sets of players got into a pushing match, but the referee managed to calm the situation.

Hermoso then went from hero to zero as he was sent off before the game ended. He received a second booking after he was adjudged to have struck a Madrid player in the box.
