Manchester United looks certain to lose out on another transfer target.

The English club have expressed interest in signing Casemiro from Real Madrid, but the price may scare them off.

As reported by Metro, Madrid have set a figure of €70million for the midfielder’s services.

Casemiro has been with Madrid since 2013 when he signed from Sao Paulo. At that stage he only cost the La Liga champions €6m. Since then, Casemiro has formed a formidable partnership with Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić in the midfield. They have been described as The Bermuda Triangle bu coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti also has Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos and Aurélien Tchouameni at his disposal in the midfield should Casemiro be sold.

The club are not planning on selling Casemiro during the transfer window but would be tempted if the right offer came in for him. Madrid Universal reported that Casemiro is interested in the United offer as it would mean that his salary would double.

Erik ten Hag is eager to add two new midfielders to the United squad. The club are certain to lose out on Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and pulled out of a deal to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus because of his salary demands.

Real Madrid’s midfield looks to inspire the side to another season of trophies.

Madrid only brought in two new signings this season, signing Aurélien Tchouameni from AS Monaco and Antonio Rüdiger on a free transfer, TransferMarkt reported.

When quizzed about how Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos compared to the veteran midfielders, Ancelotti had special praise for Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić, Football Espana reported.
