Antonio Rudiger is the only defender Real Madrid has signed this summer as the Spanish champions prepare ahead of the 2022/23 football season.

The 29-year-old German defender joined Los Blancos from English Premier League side Chelsea but has been ranked behind David Alaba as one of the best Real Madrid defenders.

Alaba played a key role alongside central defensive partner, Eder Militao as Real Madrid cruised to the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles last season.

According to the Tribuna, David Alaba leads the list as the world best rated defender in the Real Madrid team while Antonio Rudiger, and Eder Militao are considered very good defenders.

French wing-back, Ferland Mendy, alongside Spaniards Nacho and Dani Carvajal complete the list as they are all rated as good defenders for the Champions League winners.

Carlo Ancelotti hints at new position for Antonio Rudiger

Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger could see himself playing in a new position for Real Madrid after completing his long-awaited move from Chelsea.

According to Sport Bible, Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has suggested he could play the 29-year-old German defender at left-back this season.

Rudiger made his debut for the European champions on Saturday, July 23 as Los Blancos were beaten 1-0 by rivals Barcelona in an ill-tempered pre-season match in Las Vegas.

Antonio Rudiger issues demands to Real Madrid

Earlier, Sports Brief reported new Real Madrid recruit Antonio Rudiger has asked the club to sell Miguel Gutierrez this summer.

Gutierrez is one of the upcoming left-backs from Real Madrid's youth set-up team and could push for an increased number of chances in the main team next season.

With Rudiger's arrival, the competition for places in the left-back position in Carlo Ancelotti's side is set to be intense. David Alaba is expected to be pushed back to his natural position of left-back.
