Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has passionately defended his team from comments by Bernardo Silva.

Silva, who has typically been one of Pep Guardiola’s most consistent players this season, courted controversy after referring to Los Blancos as ‘weird’.

The Portuguese star meant no harm with his comment, as he simply meant the 14-time European champions were difficult to contain.

“Sometimes it seems like you have control of the game and out of nowhere, they run twice [on the counter] and score two goals because their players individually are very good,” Silva had initially told TNT Sports.

Real Madrid knocked out City via penalties after the tie ended 4-4 on aggregate.

Ancelotti could not help himself in his latest presser as he responded to Silva by refuting the notion that his team was unusual.

“We are not strange. We are a team that can show the history of the past in this competition,” he said, per The Mirror.
“There is nothing I have to say to Bernardo Silva. He is a great, gigantic player and last year they made it to the final and now it is up to us.”

Silva under Guardiola

Silva played for 90 minutes in both legs of the quarter-final against Real Madrid; a stat that shows just how crucial he is to Pep Guardiola’s side.

According to Transfermarkt, the 29-year-old has 11 goals and five assists this season as City aim to win a domestic double comprising the Premier League and FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti and his team are also hunting for multiple pieces of silverware this season. They enjoy a handsome lead in the La Liga with a handful of games to go.

Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich stands between the Spanish giants and a Champions League final.

Tuchel makes UCL prediction

In other news, Sports Brief reported on Thomas Tuchel’s bold prediction ahead of the clash against Real Madrid.

Tuchel, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season, is almost certain one of his players will find the net against Ancelotti’s side.
