Real Madrid legend Marcelo has announced he is leaving the club this summer after 15 years at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Brazilian joined the Spanish giants back in 2007 and has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with Los Blancos during his spell with the club.

However, the seasoned footballer has confirmed he has played his last game for the club, with his Champions League final appearance was his last match in a Real Madrid kit.

According to the Daily Mail, the Real captain was handed his fairytale ending with the club as he lifted his fifth Champions League title with the La Liga giants on Saturday, May 28.

Marcelo in tears as he announces Real Madrid exit

While it was no secret Marcelo was to leave at the end of the season, the reality of his departure hit home during Real Madrid's trophy parade.

AFP reports the former Brazil international was reduced to tears as he bid farewell to the club's fanbase, describing his 15-year spell with them as a "wonderful moment of my life."

"It is a wonderful moment in my life, I close a cycle here, at the best club in the world," Marcelo said in a speech to the fans.
"Today is not a day of sadness, it is a day of joy because we have won again, the best competition in the world," he added.

Rio, Steven Gerrard declare Benzema favourite for Ballon d'Or

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard have claimed that no one deserves the Ballon d'Or more than Karim Benzema.

The two Premier League legends contend the Real Madrid attacker is the clear favourite to cart home the award, with Rio claiming it would be a 'travesty' if the Frenchman does not get it.

Benzema, who has scored an eyewatering 44 goals this season played an integral role in Real Madrid's Champions League triumph.
