Sparks were expected to fly following the aftermath of Argentina's triumph and subsequent 'overzealous' merrymaking, especially from Emi Martinez, who targeted Mbappe with his celebrations, per GOAL.

Fuelling the rumours of the assumed rift was Mbappe's absence on Messi's return to PSG when the Frenchman was missing in action as his clubmates greeted Lionel with a guard of honour.

However, Argentina's World Cup-winning captain has poured cold water on the reports about his tense relationship with Mbappe, suggesting there is no problem.

“On the contrary, the truth is that there is no problem with Kylian," Messi said as quoted by PSG Report.

Meanwhile, Mbappe has been ruled out for three weeks due to an injury and barren any rapid recovery he will miss PSG's Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.

Messi reacts to Mbappe's penalty miss

Messi's sublime strike after being set up by Fabian Ruiz was his 697th goal to become the player with the most club goals in Europe's top five leagues, the Sun reports.

Aside from his record-breaking feat, Messi was filmed in a heart-melting moment earlier in the game.

The World Cup winner's instant shock stemmed from Mbappe's inability to score from 12 yards on two occasions while also inexplicably spurning a rebound, per Sportsmanor.

Messi, Mbappe disagree on Neymar's future

Sports Brief earlier reported that new reports have indicated that Paris Saint-Germain's stars Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe have clashed over the imminent future of Neymar.

PSG are said to have put Neymar on its transfer list as the club seeks to balance its books. The Brazilian has fallen out of favour with the club's chiefs.

The Daily Star now reports that Messi and Mbappe have been drawn into the saga. The former wishes to have his former teammate at Barcelona continue at Paris while Mbappe has no issue with Neymar leaving.
