The 35-year-old is expected to feature for the reigning French champions when they host Reims in the league as PSG will hope to earn another impressive win.

PSG had thrashed French lower league side Pays de Casel 7-0 with Messi playing no part in the encounter after he was given time off.

Messi has had a mixed spell for PSG as the 35-year-old has failed to impress since returning from the World Cup, which was unlike him prior to the kickoff of Qatar 2022.

Messi didn’t deserve Golden Ball

Meanwhile, former FIFA President Sepp Blatter has stirred a bit of controversy after he said that Lionel Messi did not deserve the Golden Ball at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Daily Post reports.

Messi scored four goals and provided assists in seven games as he led Argentina to the final of the tournament where they lost agonizingly to Germany 1-0 after extra-time.

Blatter said the current PSG star did not deserve the accolade after he was awarded the Golden Ball by the FIFA Committee as the best player of the tournament.

Why Messi rejected PSG’s new contract

Earlier, Sports Brief reported there is trouble in paradise at Paris Saint-Germain, as Lionel Messi is reportedly set to part ways with the French giants at the end of the 2022/23 season.

The 35-year-old forward’s current deal with PSG runs out at the end of the season, but so far the Ligue 1 giants have apparently failed to convince him to pen a new deal.

Winning the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in December has made Messi consider his options regarding his future with PSG.
