The first meeting between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, since the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, has been seen as awkward.
Messi led Argentina to defeat France in the final, with both PSG players playing a crucial role for their teams, scoring a brace and a hat-trick respectively in the final.
There was not too much excitement when the reigning World Cup champion met up with Mbappe, during PSG’s training ahead of their Ligue 1 clash against Rennes.
The French champions are hoping to extend their lead on top of the Ligue 1 table, with the Argentine and the French expected to start for Christophe Galtier’s men on Sunday night.

PSG are presently three points ahead of second-place Lens with 47 points, although the reigning French champions have played one game less.
Galtier has Messi, Mbappe back
Meanwhile, Christophe Galtier is happy to keep everyone on the same page and build unity in the dressing room, ahead of the second half of the season, Marca reports.
The PSG boss says it is important to have everyone back at the club, referring to the resumption of Messi and Mbappe, who are back training together for the first time since the World Cup final.
Galtier says he is focused on getting everyone’s connection again, after his top players were away for almost two months playing for different teams.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Messi continuing with Paris Saint-Germain for one more season at least, after agreeing to extend his contract at Parc des Princes.
