  • Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos made headlines for the umpteenth time after he picked up his 28th career red card against Reims
  • Ramos was dismissed after an initial yellow card for his lamentations but was swiftly upgraded to a red card following his comments which were deemed as dissent by the centre referee
  • The Spanish centre-half received his first dismissal at Espanyol in September 2005 while playing for Real Madrid

Sergio Ramos continued his bizarre tradition of receiving his marching orders as the Spaniard was sent off once again during Paris Saint-Germain's game against Reims on Saturday, October 8.

Ramos, who has rediscovered his form this campaign after a difficult first year with the Parisians, saw red four minutes to halftime.

The 35-year-old former Real Madrid captain, who has carved a niche for himself as a no-nonsense defender, was sent off for dissent after initially picking up a yellow card.

Breakdown of Sergio Ramos' infamous disciplinary record

In all of Ramos' three seasons with Sevilla during his formative years, the Spaniard had a clean disciplinary record, picking no red card during his spell at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

However, what used to be a clean bill of disciplinary record was marred in spectacular fashion during the 35-year-old's 16-year stint with Real Madrid.

Ramos picked an astonishing 26 red cards during his time with the Los Blancos, with his first dismissal during the last few seconds of a 1-0 defeat at Espanyol in September 2005, reports ESPN.

After trading Madrid for Paris, he was up and running in only his third appearance for PSG to increase his tally to 27 last season and extended his unenviable feat to 28 against Reims on Saturday, October 8.

Sergio Ramos showers praise on former nemesis and now PSG teammate Leo Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sergio Ramos has praised Lionel Messi in what will come as a shock to many people. Ramos and Messi spent the better part of their careers on opposite sides during their days in La Liga.

But the two have since become teammates at Paris Saint-Germain, putting their long rivalry in the El Classico to rest.

Ramos was speaking after scoring a sumptuous goal against Nantes to help PSG win the French Super Cup. Messi was similarly on the scoresheet with another wonderfully taken goal.
